The exhibition commemorates the first phase of the Cheb gallery, from 1962 to 1972. The gallery adapted the Baroque building of the New Town Hall for its activities. From the beginning, it worked closely with the National Gallery in Prague and the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava, as well as with the Dresden State Art Collections and the National Museum in Cracow. Around 1970 it was at the absolute forefront of the gallery scene in Czechoslovakia. Then, however, exhibition traffic was interrupted for two years due to the complex reconstruction of the building. After that, the new political conditions following August 1968 became fully apparent, which resulted in a sharp decline in quality.
