The exhibition, designed specifically for the spaces of the Fine Arts Gallery in Cheb, is in most cases a staged wandering through both inner and outer landscapes, densely inhabited by Robert’s favorite allusions and puns with new air. It is “about applause”. But no one knows whether people had already applauded or whether the applause is yet to come. It is equally unknown who deserved it and for what and whether the applause was sincere or merely courtesy. Applause is just an abstract acoustic background that either closes or anticipates something, similarly to the banners left behind and scattered in the gallery “hallway” after a demonstration or still waiting for it. Or to an ax that (imaginarily) chops something or lets it go to become mere decoration. At the same time, the past has the same status as the future. It is simply absent and exists just potentially. The present, in contrast, works as a point of intersection of various opposites that interest the author – whether it is the good and evil, the serious and the banal, or the center and periphery. The installation stretches around time, a spatial and ideological center, and pulls viewers into narratives that can be simple or complex.
