Curator David Korecký
Painter, musician and gallerist Daniel Vlček (b. 1978) is known for his long-standing interest in sound, which he materialises visually in the form of mechanical waves that permeate space. The Cheb exhibition, however, shows a different aspect of his work — here, the artist expands on the theme of microorganisms in an experimental way. The exploration of their existence serves as an inspiration for understanding the principles of general systems and their capacity for self-development. This presentation is a kind of laboratory filled with experiments at the stage of elaboration and incompleteness. It incorporates sediments drawn on the marble floor of the gallery, as well as dried liquids composed of organic and inorganic materials, crystals from evaporated samples of marshes placed in petri dishes, drawings in metal tubs of unspecified purpose, mats of seaweed... Also displayed in this exhibition are the new paintings, drawings, and videos Vlček produced during his repeated stays in the Venetian lagoon.
