Dagmar Urbánková (*1972) joins the GAVU exhibitions of Czech illustration with her most recent display in the Museum Café. She belongs to the circle of authors working for the Baobab publishing house, where she has publicized or illustrated more than ten books. In the Cheb gallery, we know her as the author of the popular Croissant Chandelier (2013), situated in the children’s corner – Gallery under Baobab. Now, she returns with illustrations for her new picture book World–View (2022), nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award in the Illustrator of the Year category. A piece of patterned fabric in a child’s room becomes a peephole into various households worldwide. Through the colorful motifs of houses, from a Mongolian yurt and a Swiss cottage to a New York skyscraper, we can enter and visit rooms, homes, and families in Prague, Alaska, Kenya, England, and many other places.
